If you have a question related to our company or services, let us know,

My computer is still under warranty and I called the company. They told me to use the System Restore disc that came with the computer. Should I use it?

System warranties are very good for hardware problems, though you may have to spend a lot of time on the phone for replacements. However, for software problems, this may not be your best solution. The System Restore discs that many companies send with their computers will simply reformat (erase) the entire hard drive, and start over from scratch, and if you don't have backups, you will lose all your information such as e-mail, documents, saved photos, installed programs, and anything else that you added to the system after you bought it. Computer companies often won't spend the time needed to fix your system over the phone, and it can be very difficult to diagnose problems that way, especially if you are not comfortable with changing some of the more advanced settings that Windows has. If you have called your manufacturer and they tell you to use the System Restore disc, ask them what it does before you run the program. Many independent technicians will also say "Just reformat the hard drive and re-install Windows". This may take a very long time. There can be extreme cases where the system is so badly infected that you need to start over, but most of the time this is not necessary. We can help you get your system running again without losing important data. If you decide not to call us, remember to back up anything important before you run it!

My computer is old, and runs slowly. Should I keep it, or should I buy a new one?

This is a difficult decision to make, and we reccomend that you call us with specific information about your system, such as speed and memory, before you do anything. While technology does get old very quickly, unless you are a heavy duty user, an system that's a few years old will usually be fine for most people's needs. However, there are some systems that are simply too old, or would require too many parts to be worth upgrading. The best way to decide this, is to ask yourself if your system worked fine for you when you first bought it, and if you're doing anything new that might be making it run slower. If you just use your computer to type letters, surf the internet, and write e-mail, and you've noticed it's getting slower and slower without a reason, this could be a sign that you have a virus or it simply needs a tune-up. If you've installed newer programs, such as photo or video editing software, then you may need an upgrade or new computer in order to be able to run the software efficiently. Also remember, that if you buy a new computer, you may need to transfer your important data from the old system to the new one. We can help you with that.
